Jay Montalvo

Jay Montalvo is an Actor portraying “Uncle Rob” in Encounters. He was drawn to this project due to the numerous parallels of life and beyond unfolding through survival after a catastrophe or wrong in one’s life that needs reparation...a what if? 

Jay grew up in New York City, attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and earned a degree in Biological Sciences. 

Upon graduation Jay spent most of his time participating in theatre, studying Meisner, and was a member of the Actors Movement Studio in NYC. He ultimately decided to move out to Los Angeles in 1990. His first break came in 1995 landing a small part in Get Shorty (MGM), starring John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo and Danny Devito. His passion for movie making led him to produce/write/act in his first film in 1998 and is currently working on several projects under his Entertainment Playground label, including a psychological horror picture, one of a franchise, entitled Black Asylum (Blood Cult)..  Jay has many Television and Film credits to his name: CSI Miami, Commander in Chief ( Starring Geena Davis), Swat , This Girl’s Life, Wasted in Babylon, The Onion Movie, Space Above and Beyond, La Guerrera (Indie), to name a few. He recently finished a Comedy with Paul Rodriguez and Felipe Esparza (Last Comic Standing) entitled: “ I’m Not Like That No More” currently playing the Festivals and having one win so far to its credit: Audience Award at the Coachella Valley International Film Festival. The film was an official selection at the New York International Latino film Festival, the Downtown Film Festival 2010, and has been released in 15 cities. 

Jay has a new digital series entitled 10,000 Days from MGM, soon to be released on the Web, he plays “David Ruiz” also starring John Schneider ( Dukes Of Hazard and Smallville) and Peter Winfield ( Highlander).

Jay also has a passion for music and sings/performs in a band named Mojave Green.

He is looking to produce a compilation of 15 Original Songs.
